THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO WEARING A BOLD LIPSTICK

zoella berry lisptick

There are only two things that excite about the colder months, 1. My birthday (which is today, whoop whoop) and a good bold berry lipstick. I am all about a good bold berry lipstick and I take full advantage of it during the colder season. There is nothing wrong with wearing a berry lipstick during the summer but I feel like it just works better in the colder months.

I don't want to come across as the most confident of bold lipstick wearers, it took a while (for a long time I felt like people were looking at me all the time) and we all know pulling off a bold lip is not the most easiest thing to do. There is definitely an art to it and I have put together some of my best tips and tricks to ensure that your bold berry pout looks good and lasts (nothing worse than having to re-applying a bold lipstick during an evening out).

1. It's all in the preparation, I usually exfoliate my lips as part of my evening routine three times a week (maybe). This works by removing all the dead cells and creating a smoother surface area. Smoother surface area equals smoother even application of lipstick i.e your lipstick will look better.

Products:
Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub, Laura Geller Lip Strip Smoothing Sugar Scrub.

2. Always apply some lip balm before you start applying your makeup, so when you get to lipstick your lips are moisturised and the lip balm has fully absorbed. It creates a better surface to apply your lipstick on it, which results in a better application which is what you want at the end of the day.

Products: Nuxe Reve de Miel Baume (blogger favourite) , Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Cream .

3. Bold Lipsticks have the tendency to bleed on me, so I have to use a lip liner. Nonetheless if you want your bold lip to have that precise professional application look then you definitely want to use a lip liner. I just follow the natural lines of my lips, using a lip liner that is a very similar or exact colour to the lipstick I am going to be wearing. If I want to make my lipstick last longer, I fill in my lips with the lip liner, and apply my lipstick on top. The lip liner becomes almost like a priming base for the lipstick.

Products: Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliners (really good affordable option), Nars Velvet Lip Liner  (amazing colour range).

4. If you want your finish look to that much more neater, then I usually go in with a lip brush. It gives you more control and you get a more precise application. It's definitely worth taking your time, so that the end result looks good.

Products: Real Technique Lip Brush, Urban Decay Good Karma Lip Brush.

5. Why this all of a sudden feel like a recipe? The last tip is to blot your lipstick with a tissue and some powder. Then go in with a final application of the lipstick. Nothing wrong with being thorough.

I will have a favourite bold lipsticks post coming up soon. make sure you follow me on bloglovin so you don't miss that. Also please share your top tips for wearing bold lipsticks below, I think it would be useful for everyone.
